Temporary Suspended Access System & Rigging

Client: Bovis Lend Lease
Date: 2007

Alternative Access Logistics was asked to design, manufacture, supply and install a temporary suspended access system as traditional techniques would be restrictive and time restrictive. The use of a temporary suspended access system allowed complete high level coverage of the facades for access and maintenance works.

AAL specified the KOT-106 aluminium track profile to suspend the access platforms. The track was held in position by 32 individual outriggers [brackets] that were positioned and secured to the building’s roof top.

The unique flexibility of the aluminium track permitted the faceted profile of the building to be easily achieved. Therefore the suspended platforms could remain in close proximity to the facade at all times.

Two platforms were proposed, one 6M long single decked suspended platform and one 3M long double decked platform. The installation of a bus-bar for power was provided for horizontal repositioning remotely.

C- frame suspension beams were also designed into the platforms to maximise stability and unhindered access to the building. On site assembly and dismantling of the system was handled by AAL trained personnel.
