The Kessock Bridge
Aluminium suspended space frame system
The management team at Alternative Access Logistics were instrumental in the delivery of a complete painting and maintenance access solution. Utilising light weight suspended space frame technology the platform avoided the need to partially close and fully scaffold the bridge deck.
The existing under-bridge access and inspection platform was considered unsuitable for the scheduled repainting and maintenance works. The new aluminium space frame suspended platform offered significant advantages over more traditional methods of access:
-
Large spanning ability.
-
Significant payload capacity.
-
Bi-directional movement.
-
Ability to pass through the bridge piers.
-
Modular platform allows quick deployment.
-
Re-configurable of shape and compact storage.
The suspended platform was also coupled with integral weather protection and a blast containment system as necessary. This innovative and cost effective solution has proven to be one of the most effective methods for bridge access and maintenance.
